Create WhatsApp Templates with ChatMaxima MCP

Compose WhatsApp message templates from Claude, Gemini or ChatGPT. The assistant browses the library and drafts compliant templates ready for review in ChatMaxima.

Overview

ChatMaxima MCP lets your AI assistant draft WhatsApp message templates for your workspace. WhatsApp templates are the pre-approved messages you use for notifications, reminders, offers and other business-initiated conversations. With MCP connected, you can ask Claude, Gemini or ChatGPT to write a template, and it composes a structured draft in your account that you can review and submit for approval.

This saves the back-and-forth of wording a template by hand and formatting it to WhatsApp's structure. The assistant can also browse a library of proven templates for inspiration before it drafts a new one.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • A connected AI client. See Connect with Claude, Gemini or Codex / ChatGPT.
  • WhatsApp template access in your role. Your ChatMaxima role must allow the templates section.
  • A connected WhatsApp account in your workspace, so templates have somewhere to belong.

How the assistant works with templates

The assistant has a small set of template tools:

  1. See your WhatsApp accounts. It calls list_whatsapp_accounts to find which account a template should be created against.
  2. Review existing templates. It calls list_whatsapp_templates and get_whatsapp_template to see what you already have.
  3. Browse the library. It calls browse_template_library to find ready-made examples for common use cases.
  4. Learn the structure. It calls get_template_schema so it knows the exact fields a template needs.
  5. Compose a draft. It calls compose_whatsapp_template to create a new template draft in your workspace.

Step 1: Describe the template you need

Tell the assistant the purpose, the audience and any variables the message should include. A clear brief produces a cleaner draft.

Example prompt:

Using ChatMaxima, compose a WhatsApp template for an order shipped notification.
Include the customer first name and the tracking link as variables, keep the tone
friendly, and add a button to track the order.

What to include in your brief

DetailWhy it helps
Use casePicks the right category and tone
VariablesPersonalizes the message (name, order id, date)
Buttons or linksAdds call-to-action elements
LanguageDrafts in the right language

Step 2: Let the assistant browse and draft

The assistant can first call browse_template_library to ground its draft in a proven example, then call compose_whatsapp_template to create your draft. It will place variable placeholders where you asked and structure the header, body, footer and buttons correctly.

Note: Ask the assistant to confirm which WhatsApp account the template belongs to if you have more than one connected.

Step 3: Review and submit for approval

Open the WhatsApp templates section in the ChatMaxima dashboard. The drafted template appears there for you to review. Check the wording, the variable placeholders and the category, then submit it for WhatsApp approval as you normally would. WhatsApp reviews and approves templates before they can be sent, so the assistant prepares the draft and you handle final submission.

Best Practices

  • Keep it within policy. Business-initiated templates must follow WhatsApp content rules. Promotional wording belongs in the correct category.
  • Use clear variable names. Ask the assistant to label variables so you know what each placeholder represents.
  • Reuse library patterns. Starting from a library example reduces rejections.
  • Draft per language. Create a separate template for each language you message in.

Troubleshooting

The template tools are not listed

  1. Your role may not include WhatsApp template access. Ask a workspace admin to grant it.
  2. Reconnect the client so it refreshes the available tools.

The assistant cannot find a WhatsApp account

  1. Confirm a WhatsApp account is connected in your workspace.
  2. Ask the assistant to call list_whatsapp_accounts again after you connect one.

The draft does not appear in the dashboard

  1. Confirm you selected the correct workspace when you connected the client.
  2. Refresh the templates page in the dashboard.
