WhatsApp Calling - Call a Customer on WhatsApp from the Inbox
Invite a customer to call you or place a business-initiated WhatsApp call from the contact panel, using your connected WhatsApp Voice number.
Overview
WhatsApp Calling lets you reach a customer by voice on WhatsApp from the inbox. It is one of the followup tools in the contact panel and opens the Voice Call dialog, where you can either invite the customer to call you or place a call to them yourself once they have granted permission.
For the full setup and how calling works end to end, see the WhatsApp Voice channel guide.
Prerequisites
- A WhatsApp Voice number enabled in ChatMaxima
- The contact has a mobile number on file
Note: If the contact has no mobile number or no WhatsApp account is connected, the voice-call icon is disabled and its tooltip explains why.
Start a WhatsApp call
- Open the conversation in the inbox
- In the contact panel, click the voice-call icon in the quick actions
- The Voice Call dialog opens with two options:
- Invite to call — send the customer a "Call on WhatsApp" button they can tap to call you
- Request permission to call — ask the customer for permission; once they allow, a Call customer button appears so you can place the call
- Choose the option you need and follow the prompts
