Connect ChatMaxima MCP with Cursor
Add ChatMaxima as an MCP server in Cursor with a one-click link or mcp.json, sign in with OAuth, and let Cursor build chatbots, templates and Flows for you.
Overview
This guide shows how to connect ChatMaxima MCP with Cursor, the AI code editor, so Cursor's agent can build and fix chatbots, write WhatsApp templates and Flows, and read your inbox from inside the editor. You add one server entry, sign in to ChatMaxima once, and the tools are available in every chat.
Cursor talks to the ChatMaxima server over HTTPS and runs the OAuth 2.1 sign-in in your browser, so no API key is stored in your editor. If you also install the ChatMaxima skills, Cursor follows ChatMaxima's own workflows.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- A ChatMaxima account with a role that can use the builder, templates, Flows or the inbox.
- Cursor installed, in a version that supports MCP servers with OAuth.
- The MCP URL:
https://chatmaxima.com/mcp
Option A: One-click install
Open this link on a computer with Cursor installed. Cursor asks you to confirm the server, then adds it.
cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=chatmaxima&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2NoYXRtYXhpbWEuY29tL21jcCJ9
The config part is only the server entry {"url":"https://chatmaxima.com/mcp"} encoded in base64. If the link opens Cursor but nothing is added, use Option B.
Option B: Add it to mcp.json
Cursor reads MCP servers from two files:
~/.cursor/mcp.jsonin your home folder, for every project..cursor/mcp.jsoninside a project, for that project only.
Open the one you want (create it if it does not exist) and add the ChatMaxima entry:
{
"mcpServers": {
"chatmaxima": {
"url": "https://chatmaxima.com/mcp"
}
}
}
If the file already lists other servers, add chatmaxima beside them inside mcpServers. Save the file; Cursor picks it up without a restart.
Step 2: Sign in
- Open Customize in the Cursor sidebar and find chatmaxima in the MCP servers list. It shows that it needs login.
- Click to sign in. Your browser opens the ChatMaxima sign-in page.
- Sign in, choose the workspace Cursor may access if you belong to more than one, review what the connection can do and click Approve.
- Back in Cursor, the server shows as connected and lists its tools.
Cursor registers itself with ChatMaxima automatically during sign-in, so there is no client id or secret to enter.
Note: If Cursor's built-in browser cannot load the sign-in page, copy the address it shows into your normal browser and finish signing in there.
Step 3: Use ChatMaxima in a chat
Open a chat with the agent and describe what you want. Cursor uses ChatMaxima tools when the request calls for them, and by default asks for your approval before each tool runs, with the arguments shown under the tool name.
Using ChatMaxima, build a booking bot for a hair salon that asks for the
service, preferred day and phone number, then books it in my Google Calendar.
Run a test conversation when done.
Show me the WhatsApp templates in my workspace and draft a MARKETING template
for a weekend offer with a Shop now button.
Which conversations in my inbox are unread and about refunds? Leave an
internal note on each with a one-line summary.
Add the ChatMaxima skills
Install the skills with the open-source skills CLI, which copies them into the folder Cursor reads skills from:
npx skills add chatmaxima-com/chatmaxima-skills
With the skills installed, Cursor agrees a design before building, fills every field from your real accounts and lists, and asks before anything that cannot be undone. See ChatMaxima Skills for what each one does.
Manage or revoke access
- In Cursor: open Customize, find chatmaxima and use its toggle to disable it, or remove the entry from
mcp.json. - In ChatMaxima: open Settings, then Connected Apps, and revoke the connection. It stops working immediately.
Troubleshooting
The server shows an error or no tools
- Check the URL is exactly
https://chatmaxima.com/mcp, with no trailing slash and noheadersentry. - Confirm the JSON is valid: a missing comma or bracket stops Cursor reading the whole file.
- Toggle the server off and on in Customize so Cursor reconnects and refreshes the tool list.
Sign-in finishes but Cursor still says it needs login
- Make sure you clicked Approve on the last ChatMaxima screen. Closing the tab early leaves the sign-in incomplete.
- Sign in again from Customize. If the project file and the global file both define
chatmaxima, remove one so Cursor uses a single entry.
A tool fails with a permission error
Your ChatMaxima role in the chosen workspace does not include that section. Ask a workspace admin for access, or sign in again and choose a different workspace.
Cursor says it cannot save changes
Confirm the workspace plan is active. A Free or expired plan blocks saves.
